Devoted English-Speaking Tutor, Ready to Help You Learn
Hi! I'm Anya, 22, half-French, and freshly moved to Vienna this fall from the US, where I will be working part-time at an international Montessori school. I just graduated Cum Laude from Columbia University in New York with a degree in History and Environmental Science, and I'm excited to bring my love of learning (and teaching!) to Vienna.
I've spent the last 15 years working with kids of all ages, from babysitting and homework help to tutoring and summer camp counseling, including students with learning differences like severe dyslexia. I've also written curricula from scratch, having taught journalism to students abroad, so I know how to build a lesson plan that actually works for the student in front of me.
My teaching style is soft, patient, and student-driven. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all lessons. I like to follow a student's curiosity, build project-based work around what excites them, and use lots of positive reinforcement along the way. Whether we're working through a tricky grammar rule or a big research project, my goal is to make learning feel collaborative, not stressful.
A bit about my subjects:
English: Native speaker and lifelong writer, with deep experience in journalism, editing, and instruction. I can help with everything from essay structure and grammar to voice, style, and test prep.
French: Grew up speaking French at home, and studied it formally through six university courses spanning literature, history, and composition.
History: My major at Columbia, where I wrote and received distinction on an 82-page senior thesis. I love making history feel like a story rather than a list of dates.
Geography: A natural extension of my history background, as I love helping students connect places to the events and people that shaped them.
Outside of tutoring, I'm a birder, a baker, a painter, and an enthusiastic hiker, always up for turning a lesson into an adventure when it helps a concept stick. I'd love to be your next tutor! Let's chat!
